Games Workshop Limited Edition Releases December 2013 - Ultima Edition, Chaos Collection and more

Games Workshop have really outdone themselves in book releases, 4 (yes 4) limited edition books are on sale from Games Workshop for the Christmas period as well as a number of new rulebooks in standard edition.

Three of these have a lot going for them in terms of being lovely collectors items. As of 13/12/2013, none of them have sold out, but this isn't too surprising considering the number and cost (£430 all told).

All told a pretty nice spread of interesting things. The production values on the two “box editions” looks top notch and the video of the Ultima Edition does a good job of showing it off. All in all, the Ultima edition is the one I find most attractive, because it contains three things not available anywhere else currently, while the other three are just limited edition versions. The Sigmar’s Blood slipcase is the “best value” because the two items cost £37 anyway. I'm a bit of a sucker for books in slipcases in general, the Codex: Tau Empire one looked really nice as well.

The "rarity" of these is also nice: a print run of 500 gives a nicer exclusivity of ownership feeling than 2000. After the initial spate of eBay sellers trying to flip these for 2x their sale price, don't expect to see them up for sale constantly.

A word on price of limited editions:

Not going to talk anymore about price because ultimately, these are for people that want them, not for people who bitch and moan. Still don’t understand how people can rationalise complaining about something they don’t even want lol.
